JMS secure a major nationwide agreement
16/09/2020 - JMS Consulting Engineers
JMS, the national group of consulting engineers, is excited to secure a major, nationwide agreement with Breedon, a leading construction materials group in Great Britain and Ireland, as they undertake a project to centralise their structural inspection process and suppliers. This significant agreement has expedited the company’s requirement to recruit an additional office administrator and two senior engineers.
Once this agreement is in full swing, JMS Group will be one of the biggest national quarry and construction material plant surveyors in the UK. Structural inspections this year will start with twelve sites in the North of the country, including: Northenden, Wath, Astley Moss, Ashbury, York, Bolton and Rochdale, as well as the first batch for Breedon’s Whitemountain division in Northern Ireland.
The Inspections department at JMS Group is run by Jo Kingshott, who has cemented her reputation as a logistical mastermind, as she already coordinates site inspections for many clients across the UK.
As well as coordinating the inspections and the engineers, Jo also deals with the formal recording of any structural issues that are flagged up during an inspection. Receiving these reports enables JMS Group’s clients to budget effectively for repairs and maintenance and assists significantly with their ability to comply with health and safety regulations. Issues identified are inputted directly into the client’s H&S database, saving on administration work.
Jo Kingshott explains: “With so much infrastructure being inspected, there is always the chance that an issue may be identified. Our engineers use a bespoke app to record inspection findings and create reports, which ensure we can be responsive, swift, and effective. At the point an issue is flagged up, I create a report based on the inspection findings, and pass on the Engineer’s recommendations to the client for the remedial work. They then use this report to appoint a contractor to carry out repairs. On several occasions we have highlighted issues before they became serious, and that means JMS have been able to prevent serious health and safety issues occurring.”
Nigel Clamp, Group Head of Health, Safety & Environment at Breedon, added: “We are delighted to confirm JMS Group as our chosen partner for all our site structural assessments. They came out of the tender process as clear leaders in terms of technology, expertise and customer service. We are looking forward to working together with their team.”
