JMS Engineers, headquartered in Brightwell, Suffolk, has been announced as the winners in the small non-residential category for the revitalisation of the Lutterworth Museum at Leicestershire’s prestigious ProCon awards.
The original Lutterworth Museum, confined within a shop, presented a challenge for displaying the iconic Spitfire engines designed by renowned RAF engineer Sir Frank Whittle. JMS Engineers rose to the occasion, providing civil and structural designs for a bespoke building that not only showcased historical artefacts but also incorporated a visitor café and spacious office areas.
Mark Weston, Managing Director at JMS Engineers, said, “This award is a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of our JMS Midlands team. The challenges posed by limited space, mediaeval archaeology, and a conservation area were met with innovative solutions, from low-vibration piled foundations to meticulous design integration with the historical surroundings.”
The ProCon awards ceremony took place at The King Power Stadium, Leicestershire, on Thursday, 9th November. Each year, the ProCon Awards showcase the best projects and developments in construction, property and the built environment in Leicestershire. Each category has differing criteria and is judged by a panel of expert judges.
Judges recognised the intricate work undertaken by JMS Engineers, ensuring the new building seamlessly blended into its environment, providing a fitting home for historically significant artefacts.
Mark continued “This award perfectly represents our commitment to overcoming challenges and delivering exceptional results. It’s a testament to the skill and dedication of the entire JMS team.”
