Local civil and structural engineers nominated in prestigious Property Industry Awards

JMS Engineers, in collaboration with DLG Architects, STP Construction for Charles Street Building Group, Hallam Read and Martin Design Associates, is delighted to announce their nomination in the prestigious Refurbishment/Renovation of the Year category at the Insider Yorkshire Property Industry Awards 2023.

This recognition comes in celebration of their remarkable transformation of the historic One Sovereign Quay building, formerly known as Windsor House, located on Leeds Bridge. This architectural gem, which dates back to the 19th century, has undergone a multi-million-pound refurbishment, breathing new life into its timeless presence.

The building offers over 21,000 square feet of stunning Grade A office space, combining character, prominence, positioning, and breathtaking views across the city.

Key highlights of the renovation include the removal of the pitched roof and dormers, as well as the addition of two new top floors adorned with full-height glazing. JMS Engineers played a pivotal role in the refurbishment, responsible for the civil & structural design work associated with the addition of these two storeys, as well as the basement car parking enhancements, and various refurbishment aspects.

The nomination in the Refurbishment/Renovation of the Year category is a testament to the potent mix of innovation and collaboration, drawing on expertise from JMS Engineers, DLG Architects, STP Construction, Charles Street Building Group, Hallam Read, and Martin Design Associates and and the other members of the Team. Their joint commitment to preserving historical significance while creating modern, vibrant spaces has resulted in a truly outstanding project.

“We are thrilled to be recognised for our contributions to the transformation of One Sovereign Quay,” said Mark Weston, Managing Director at JMS Engineers. “This nomination acknowledges the collaborative efforts of our team and partners and how well we all worked together, the dedication to preserving the past, and the vision to shape the future of iconic structures across the UK. We look forward to the awards ceremony and celebrating with our colleagues in the Yorkshire property industry.”

The winners of the Insider Yorkshire Property Industry Awards 2023 will be announced at a prestigious ceremony at New Dock Hall on Thursday 21st September.
