GANDHI PIZZA OPENS IN THE FORMER GANDHI INDIAN RESTAURANT PREMISES

At Penn Commercial, we like to welcome vibrant new businesses into our community, and we were pleased to support new tenant Gandhi Pizza on its official open evening on 21st September.

Penn worked with new owners Michael Anthony and Danny Rawlings to find them their ideal location in Ipswich town centre. The former Gandhi Indian restaurant at 8 St Peter’s Street became their new restaurant premises in July this year.

The former Gandhi owner, Mohammed Miah, who has now retired, said: “This was a life-changing decision, which took a lot of thought and reflection. I am happy for the future and I am looking forward to taking a break .”I wish the new team all the best and hope that they have as much success and joy as I have in this industry. Thank you to Penn Commercial for also supporting the whole process.”

Gandhi Pizza owner, Michael Anthony, added: “Having already set up a couple of other businesses in Ipswich, we knew that this was the best place to start in East Anglia, especially as our store manager Mandy has lived here all her life.  “We want to thank all our neighbours in St Peter’s Street for making us so welcome, and we invite everyone in Ipswich to try our fresh, delicious pizzas.”

Rachael Jackson, Marketing and Commercial Consultant at Penn Commercial, commented: “We worked closely with Mohammed and the team at The Gandhi to secure a long-standing tenant, and we wish Gandhi Pizza all the very best in building their business and attracting new and old customers to this popular premises.”

The queue for free 9” pizzas on launch night was definitely impressive, and the restaurant served over 190 piping-hot pizzas in just two hours!

Gandhi Pizza offers predominantly takeaway and delivery items, but also features a number of tables for eating in.

The restaurant is situated on St Peter’s Street, in ‘The Saints’ area of Ipswich, which is one of the premier independent shopping and leisure streets, within a short walking distance of the main town centre. Other high-quality premises in the area include Tavernetta Italian restaurant and the Thomas Wolsey public house, as well as several other restaurants and bars within the immediate vicinity.
