If you’re stuck for holiday ideas this year, Tracey Strand, Independent Travel Agent at Tailor & Made suggests that camping might be more relaxing than you had previously thought. Here she discusses the up-market options;
“There’s no need to load the car up with equipment or be uncomfortable on a camping holiday. I would never have considered a holiday ‘under canvas’ until I discovered the joys of glamping…
“If you want to enjoy nature, but do not want to ‘rough it’, glamping, is a wonderful compromise. Camping, or glamping, is made easy with pre-erected tents which are fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy a fantastic holiday in the great outdoors: Comfortable beds with pillows and duvets/blankets, a small kitchen zone, outdoor furniture and bathroom facilities.”
Tracey also has lots of ideas for destination options for glamping outside of the standard campsite holiday, including glamping in the Channel Islands;
“The Channel Islands are only a short flight or ferry ride away, and Jersey, the ‘sunshine isle’ has some of the best beaches in Great Britain, three Michelin starred restaurants and four golf courses. You can discover the history of this fabulous island with the six Jersey Heritage Sites including castles, farms and its naval history. Enjoy a tour, and taste the produce at the La Mare Wine Estate including wine, apple brandy cream and black butter. For the more adventurous you can explore some of Jersey’s secluded beaches, bays and coves by kayak with a guide.
“When Gerald Durrell opened Jersey Zoo, the aim was and still is to conserve species of mammals, birds and reptiles. At the zoo you can stroll around and see the animals or birds plus you can become a zoo keeper for the day. Even better – now you can stay within the 32 acres in a luxury glamping pod with free entry into the park.
Tracey is holding a Holiday Showcase open day at The Mill Hotel, Sudbury on the 16th June from 11am – 3pm. Meet Tracey and other local tour operators including Wendy Wu, Great Rail Journeys, Typically Holidays, Intrepid Travel, Riviera Travel and GVI volunteering breaks. This will be a great opportunity to gather ideas and inspiration and chat to Tracey about your holidays requirements.
