Pasta La Vista, Baby – enjoy a Gastronomic Italian Cookery Break

As Tracey Strand at Tailor & Made Travel will tell you, her passion in life is travel and finding the perfect holiday or break for her clients.  However, Tracey is also passionate about cooking, and what in life could be better than combining these two wonderful passions?

Here, Tracey explains, whether you are a beginner requiring assistance, learning a new skill, or wishing to brush up on the art of Italian cookery, this could be the break for you.

Travel to the small medieval town of Portico di Romagna, northern Italy, with its narrow winding streets, fortified walls and castle ruins and stay at the hotel Al Vecchio Convento.  It is an attractive 19th Century palazzo, which maintains many of its original features and is furnished with antiques. Here you will find the father & son owner / chefs who produce varied dishes using simple, local produce in the Romagna style.

Not only will you learn how to make traditional home made pasta, but you will also learn how to prepare and cook authentic Italian food using delicious local game, truffles and cheese.

During your stay you will also visit a local vineyard to see the production of the local wine and sample the produce. The vineyard also makes their own olive oil and you can see how, after the harvest, the olives are pressed and the oil bottled.

In northern Italy they use dogs to snuffle out the truffles and you can enjoy a morning with these marvellous animals hunting for this marvellous ‘black gold’.

A visit to the Agriturismo, is essential, where you will see the cheese making process, and of course enjoy samples. Follow this with a visit to a chocolatier in Modigliana, ans see a true artisan at work.

However, it is not all cooking, you will also spend a day in Ravenna where you will visit the famous Byzantine mosaics and enjoy time to wander the medieval streets. One evening during your stay you will invited to an Italian buffet where local music is performed.

Each day you will enjoy breakfast, eat the food you cook at lunch and then enjoy an evening meal cooked by the hotel chefs.

This holiday is certainly not for those that are watching their weight, but you will come home with a wealth of new recipes to delight your family & impress your friends.

7 nights departing 26th October 2019 from London Heathrow. From £1395 per person.
