Simply Fleeting: A Fine Art Photography Exhibition Capturing the Unnoticed

In a world that is always looking for the next distraction and moving at an alarming pace to find it, Suffolk based freelance, Professional Commercial Photographer Cherry Beesley invites us to pause, reflect and appreciate the value of the fleeting moment.

Her latest fine art photography exhibition, ‘Simply Fleeting’, opens at Artspace, Woodbridge, from 15th – 21st May and invites visitors to explore the beauty of impermanence and the poetry of movement.

Cherry is well known for her unique photographic style and through a series of striking images, her latest exhibition invites viewers to pause, reflect and engage with the unnoticed details that surround them.

Inspired by the fragility of time and with a personal motto of “always look up” Cherry has created a series of Fine Art photographic images using a local Suffolk Professional Ballerina Sophie Wright of The London Ballet Company, that perfectly document time in suspension.

Inspired after a visit to the ballet where she saw Sophie dance the exhibition consists of a beautifully curated selection of images depicting the motions of a dancer.

“I saw an incredible ballerina dance on stage and was transfixed by her strength yet grace and fragility, just there for a split second” Cherry explained, “It made me aware of how we can see a movement but not really see the form and power behind it as time is fleeting. That is what I really wanted to bring to the fore. That contrast between what we see on the surface but what may be behind it and how time also moves at such a pace, that I wanted to capture it, that very second in time.”

The images highlight the poetry within the captured moment of movement.

“My inspiration comes from encouraging others to slow that down and start asking the question ‘how fragile is time’?” Cherry explained, “we need to stop and appreciate even the small things, such as the beautiful fluid motion of an arm, the flow of a fabric, the muscles that hint at strength beneath the grace and how if we blink that moment in time is gone forever.”

For Cherry, Simply Fleeting is also a personal reminder to carve out time for creative exploration. “When you work as a Professional Photographer, it can be hard to prioritise your own projects,” she admits. “This exhibition has helped me reconnect with the simple joy of photography and what drew me to it in the first place” Cherry said, “Whilst I get to be creative in my job, for those of us in the world of Professional Photography it can be hard to make time to recharge and appreciate our own passions.”

Even the way the images are captured, from unexpected angles and the use of space and light around the images, that allow the viewer to appreciate the movement being captured without distraction.

“Time is both precious and fragile—perhaps that’s why I am drawn to photography. It allows us to capture what might otherwise be lost, preserving those brief, unrepeatable instances”.

Simply Fleeting will be open to the public at Artspace, Woodbridge, from 15th – 21st May and will then be exhibited at Dance East in Ipswich for the month of July 2025.
