GMA invests in Microlistics’ Warehouse Management System

GMA Warehousing & Transport is launching Microlistics’ Warehouse Management System (WMS) across its Suffolk based warehousing operations, commencing with the company’s newly established 124,000-square-foot warehouse, situated in Leslie Road, Ipswich.

Microlistics’ depth of experience in third-party logistics was a key factor in GMA’s selection decision, reinforced by Microlistics best-in-class 3PL multi-site, multi-client WMS functionality and advanced real-time reporting and analytics.

The versatile WMS will enable GMA to automatically schedule movements from the collection of containers and shunt-to-warehouse for de-stuffing and storage, capturing activities for billing purposes in real-time.

Jay Kamat, business development director at GMA Warehousing & Transport, says: “Microlistics WMS is recognised for its high level of configuration and flexibility. Precisely what we need to ensure that as we invest in improving accuracy, efficiency and customer connectivity, we also retain the flexibility to meet the diverse requirements of our customers.

“GMA may not know who tomorrows new customer will be, but we now have a system that can handle any requirement. We are confident we have the knowledge, experience and equipment to provide a complete warehousing management solution to our customers, be it a standalone service or part of an end to end logistics solution.”

Microlistics Founder and Managing Director, Mark Dawson, said revenue leakage was the number one underrated issue for third-party logistics providers. “Most 3PLs will bend over backwards to meet the requirements of their customers. This approach can be great for winning and retaining business but often results in unrecovered costs that become significant over time and result in margin loss.

“With our system, nothing happens in the warehouse without traceability – including value-add services such as de-stuffing, pick and pack, kitting and assembly. This allows every task to be billed accurately and fairly to the customer. That capability alone virtually guarantees a strong return on investment for any 3PL provider, such as GMA.”
