If you said yes this Valentine’s Day – here’s what to do next

If you said yes this Valentine’s Day – here’s what to do next

Have you gone from ‘in a relationship’ to ‘engaged’ this Valentine’s Day? Not sure where or how to start planning? Don’t worry, the Wedding Events team at Bruisyard Hall have pulled together a handy guide to the next steps you should take to turn that ‘yes’ into an ‘I do’ to remember…

Start looking for your dream venue

It’s no secret that many of the most popular venues tend to get booked years in advance, so viewing your favourites as soon as possible is vital. Even if you’re looking to get married sooner rather than later, it is still worth calling your favourite venue about their availability. Sudden cancellations do happen, and you might be in luck.  If you’re considering a mid-week or winter wedding, there’s more chance of securing your preferred wedding date. Getting that venue booked means having a date in the diary, and that’s when the serious planning can begin…

Draw up your guest list

Start with your key players. Who will be the best man? Who are your bridesmaids? Who will be in the wedding party? At that point, you can start estimating numbers, and determining a ball-park figure of how many family members and friends you wish to invite to your wedding. Unless you’re getting married asap, you don’t have to work out the table plan or send out save the dates just yet, however this information will help during the early planning stage.

Firm up your budget

Whether you’ve been saving for years, plan to start saving now, or have a set amount provided by your family, it’s important to have a realistic understanding of the numbers available to you. This will dictate the amount of guests you can comfortably accommodate, what you will provide for them, and what extras and luxuries you can add into the mix of your planning.
