Scrutton Bland Welcomes Paul Harris, Private Client Tax Partner, to Expand Team and Expertise

Scrutton Bland is delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Harris as the firm’s newest Private Client Tax Partner, based in their new office in Bury St Edmunds. Paul is a highly experienced chartered accountant and chartered tax adviser and after holding similar roles at other firms locally, he joins Scrutton Bland at a time of expansion across the firm.

Paul specialises in providing advice on capital taxes and wealth management for high-net-worth individuals and their families, together with their related entities such as businesses and trusts, and his particular area of expertise, built up over several decades, is agriculture and landed estates. He comments: “What I most enjoy is taking the time to get to know a client’s individual circumstances and needs, and then working with them to help preserve their wealth, mitigate their tax exposure and manage their succession planning.” He continues: “As compliance regulations become ever more complex, it is vital to use the assistance of an expert in personal tax management who can help you manage your financial affairs to the greatest advantage.”

“Since the pandemic there has been an increase in global mobility, as many people choose to live and work abroad,” continues Paul. “Whilst the prospect of residing in a sunny climate may sound appealing, there are a number of implications that people need to be aware of if they want to avoid penalties and fines. A professional adviser can help you navigate the tax, national insurance and payroll requirements when working overseas.”

Paul Harris’s appointment coincides with the opening of Scrutton Bland’s new office in Bury St Edmunds, their fifth base across the region. The new office is located in The Long Barn, Fornham Business Court, Fornham St Martin, Bury St Edmunds IP31 1SL, and is strategically placed close to the A14.

Paul concludes: “I’m delighted to join Scrutton Bland and be part of their dynamic team. I am excited to be part of the journey as the firm continues to expand its service offering across East Anglia and beyond.”

Jason Fayers, Managing Partner at Scrutton Bland added: “It’s great to have someone with Paul’s wealth of experience on the team. His knowledge and skill set can only benefit our private clients and he joins us at a time when the need for detailed knowledge of current tax regulatory processes has never been higher. Paul’s proven track record in developing tailored tax strategies, combined with his passion for delivering exceptional client service, make him an excellent addition to the Scrutton Bland team. I am delighted to welcome him to the firm.”
