Gotelee Solicitors currently has a vacancy for a full or part time Solicitor within the Family team, based at the Ipswich offices. The successful applicant will have at least 1 year of post qualification experience, possess strong organisational and interpersonal skills, and be able to create and maintain strong relationships with clients and colleagues alike.

The main purpose of the role will be to service the legal needs of clients and carry on fee-earning work in accordance with the Office Manual and Professional Rules.

Responsibilities to include;

  • Conscientiously to carry out the duties of a fee earner as summarised in the Office Manual and as required by the Partners, including the requirements for case management, file maintenance, contact with clients, and following office procedures
  • To provide appropriate, accurate, sound, competent and timely legal advice in the areas of family and matrimonial law, both to clients and in support of the work of other staff, meeting the firm’s quality standards for client care and professional advice
  • To plan and organise use of time, support staff and resources so as to operate cost-effectively and to make all reasonable efforts to achieve objectives, targets and budgets agreed with the firm
  • To supervise the work of support staff and ensure that the quality of their work meets the firm’s standards and requirements
  • To understand and exercise the obligations relating to clients’ monies and ensure that fee earning work and billing complies with the Solicitor’s Accounts Rules and with the firm’s financial guidelines and limits
  • To support the firm’s marketing and client development initiatives, including taking active steps to ensure that clients are aware of the various types of legal work carried on by the practice
  • To develop and maintain good working relationships with external institutions etc. and sources of client referrals
  • To maintain a familiarity with the Office Manual and actively to support the firm’s quality policy by complying with the requirements of the office manual
  • To undertake any other duties which from time to time may be allocated and to undertake any specific training as required by the Managing Partner

The firm welcomes applications from candidates with;

  • Experience in Family Law matters
  • An organised approach to managing a full workload, with attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate work to deadlines
  • IT skills including competence using M/S Outlook email/diary software and ideally digital dictation software
  • The ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally
  • A flexible approach to work and the ability to work in a team
