Christies Care staff are all ‘Dementia Friends’
6/06/2017 - Christies Care
During Dementia Awareness week, Christies Care – a national live-in care provider – invited all office staff in their Saxmundham head office to attend Dementia Friends sessions.
The Dementia Friends project, run by the Alzheimer’s Society, is described by the society as “a programme to create a climate of kindness and understanding, so that everyone affected by dementia feels part of, not apart from, society.”
Lin Barnes, Director of Christies Care, explains: “All Christies Care carers are Dementia Friends and receive additional in-depth Dementia training. But, as a caring company, wanted to make sure that everyone in the company has a basic understanding of dementia. Now all our staff are able to better understand the needs of our clients, whether they work with them directly or indirectly.
“The Dementia Friends sessions don’t stop there. Our trainers, Helen and Colleen run Dementia Friends sessions throughout our local community. If you want to be a Dementia Friend, please get in touch.”
