Two exciting AR trails launched during #LoveParks week

Families can take part in new augmented reality (AR) trails this summer holidays in two of Ipswich’s best loved parks.

Launching during #LoveParks week, the two free trails will be available in Christchurch and Holywells Parks for all the family to enjoy from Monday 31 July.

Hosted by Ipswich Borough Council in collaboration with High Street Safari, the trails can be completed with a smart phone and encourage users to explore the parks until 3 September.

In Christchurch Park, users need to find ten curious creatures in any order and scan the QR codes to reveal them in AR to help them search for a mythical beast call the Jade Dragon. At each stop there will be mini challenges and riddles to complete, with the prize of a free ebook at the end of the trail.

Holywells hosts an escape-room style, mystery game for players of all ages to take part in groups of 3-8. Players need to visit ten locations and find the window stickers to assist Detective Inspector Ranney in finding missing Professor Maccelsbury. Can you help follow the clues and try to solve the mystery of the star-eaters? Competitive players can race to complete the trail in the fastest time and enter local and national leaderboards for a chance to win a prize!

Councillor Phil Smart, Ipswich Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Environment and Climate Change, says: “We love putting on these AR trails as they allow people of all ages to explore our award-winning parks in fun and exciting ways.

We know entertaining children during the holidays and the cost of living is a challenge for families, so we are pleased to continue to offer the trails for free.

To take part, all you need is a smartphone and a sense of fun!”
