Suffolk Barbers scoop big prize at British Salon Awards

Just four years after it first opened, a Suffolk Barbershop has won a top national industry award. The Aldeburgh based salon, Sir & Co Barbers, has scooped the prestigious award ‘Best Male Grooming Salon’, in the Salon Business Awards at a glittering ceremony hosted by Joanne Charlton.

Local entrepreneur and salon owner Janene Bush and Barbershop Manager Tris Curling, fought off strong competition and stood out from a star-studded line up of the UK’s best-known barbershops to gain the top spot in this fiercely contended category.

Janene said of the win “It’s the first time we have been to the awards and it’s amazing, we are so happy to have won.”

Salon Business Awards Publishing Editor Joanne Charlton said: “After realising men were opening up more while in the chair, this salon trained up a staff member to be a Mental Health First Aider going above and beyond.”

Delighted with the win, Tris said, “Although we’ve only been open four years, we have all worked so hard to be at the top of our game.  We offer traditional barber services, but we are also at the cutting edge of the latest trends and looks.  There is literally no style or haircut that we can’t create.

“We have always known that we provide an exceptional service, but it is fantastic to have this recognised by our clients and peers alike.  We look forward to continuing our journey as one of the UK’s premier barbershops and will continue to strive for excellence in everything that we do.”

The winners were selected following a 6-month long competition that saw the elite of hairdressing pit themselves against their peers across a number of credentials from green initiatives to business acumen.
