Flagship development scoops top construction award.

A Flagship development built by partnership homes developer Lovell in Suffolk has scooped a national award after being recognised as a site which has “raised the bar for considerate construction”.

St John’s Avenue, Newmarket has won a Considerate Constructors Scheme 2018 National Site Award and on Thursday 26 April was presented with a silver award.

The development, which consists of 21 homes, 13 affordable rent and eight shared ownership, was acknowledged for the high standards of consideration shown towards the local community, the wider public, the construction workforce and the environment during the construction programme

Scheme ‘monitors’ visited the site on a number of occasions and using a checklist scored it against five key criteria:

  • Appearance
  • Community
  • Environment
  • Safety
  • Workforce

Thousands of construction industry professionals attended the numerous ceremonies held across the UK for the Considerate Constructors Scheme awards, which included last night’s event in London.

Project Manager at Flagship Lee Webster said: “It’s fantastic that we have achieved this award. To be singled out for recognition from the many schemes eligible is incredible.”

Lovell regional managing director Simon Medler says: “Working sensitively and with care and respect for those around us is a priority on all our construction projects. I’m delighted that the hard work, professionalism and community focus of our project team on the St John’s Avenue scheme has been recognised by this sought-after National Site Award.”

The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a non-profit-making, independent organisation founded in 1997 by the construction industry to improve its image.
