The Fresh Start – new beginnings team are going quackers at Suffolk mud run
4/04/2018 - Fresh Start New Beginnings
Fresh Start – new beginnings (FS-nb) will be fielding a team for Suffolk’s brand new Splat Quack Go mud challenge, which takes place on Saturday 16th June with a second event on the 16th September, both at Hollesley, near Woodbridge.
And as all the 400+ entrants taking part will be given the option to raise money for FS-nb, it’s a real chance to mix fun, fitness and fundraising for this small local charity that supports children recovering from sexual abuse.
Splat Quack GO, is a fun, friendly obstacle race suitable for all abilities. The 16th of June 6km or 12km mud run is for adults over 16. Attendees will be running (or walking) through a course packed with muddy ditches, tunnels, horse jumps, cargo nets and ponds. All the while cheered on by spectators, supporters and friendly marshals. There will be six photographers along the route, to ensure competitors get some memorable action shots for posterity.
On the 16th September, there’ll be a second event at the same location, with a smaller 3k family and children mud event, designed to encourage children aged 6 and upwards to join in the muddy fun.
Sam Brimicombe, from the FS – nb team, said: ” Sexual abuse has a devastating effect on children. Fresh Start – new beginnings is a lifeline to many families and we’re only able to do our job because of fundraising and sponsorship from the local community. That’s why the Splat Quack Go mud challenge is so important to us. Hopefully, the community will dig deep to raise funds for a great local charity. It costs around £2,500 per child we help. We can’t keep going without donations.”
Fresh Start – new beginnings are a positive charity working with children to take away the feelings of blame, shame and guilt that abuse can bring. They help children to understand what has happened, find ways to cope, and ultimately move forwards.
