Eco-Friendly Christmas Tree Recycling by EACH and Just Helping Raises Over £27,000

A Christmas tree recycling service organised by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) looks set to raise more than £27,000.

The environmentally-friendly initiative, held in partnership with Just Helping, saw teams of staff and volunteers collect and recycle trees from homes across Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.

In return, residents were asked to make a donation and this year’s nett income is on target to raise in excess of £27,000 – smashing last year’s total of £22,500.

“We were delighted with the increased registrations this year, meaning nearly 500 more trees were collected,” said EACH Community Fundraising Manager Tina Burdett.

“We also saw an increase in the average donation given, so our sincere thanks go to everyone who signed up for the service, given the continuing cost of living crisis.

“The initiative was a magnificent success and we’re fortunate to have such outstanding public support. These phenomenal funds will make a huge difference to our vital work.

“I must also thank the armies of community and corporate volunteers who rolled up their sleeves and helped us.

“It was an amazing team effort and this achievement wouldn’t have been possible without them.”

The collections took place on 11^th and 12^th January in Norfolk, Suffolk and the Ely area and 12^th and 13^th January in the Huntingdon area.

The service covered a large number of postcodes, including Norwich, Wymondham and Dereham, in Norfolk, Ely, St Ives and St Neots, in Cambridgeshire, and Hadleigh across to Felixstowe, up to Stowmarket and Halesworth, in Suffolk.
