Christies Care raises hundreds at Ipswich Midnight Walk

A record-breaking 2,500 fundraisers took on the Midnight Walk 2017 in Ipswich on 20th May, in aid of St Elizabeth Hospice.
Among them was a team from Saxmundham-based live-in care providers, Christies Care, comprised of: Lynnette Glennon, Kate Harvey, Lin Barnes, Sophie Emmerson, Louisa Welton, Kerry Bayford, Lizzie Richardson, Colleen Louw, Victoria Shortley and Christine Adams.
One of the team recalls: “There was a fantastic carnival atmosphere at the Cornhill, where the event began and finished. Walkers taking on the six-mile or 12-mile circular route were dressed in their brightest colours, including UV face paint, neon legwarmers and funky headbands. The weather was very kind to us and, although it was a bit chilly, it was perfect walking weather.
“The walk took us from the Cornhill, through the streets of Ipswich, along Colchester Road, up to the hospice where we were greeted by a UV tunnel. Outside the hospice in Foxhall Road, walkers were able to complete remembrance tags which adorned the memory tree. We then headed back to the town centre via the marina and were greeted by cheering staff and volunteers before being presented with a medal and a well-deserved hot chocolate.
“It was a fantastic experience (despite some aching legs the next day) and we are all looking forward to next year’s event. It would be great if more of you joined us in 2018.”
The team from Christies Care raised a fantastic £642.25 for St Elizabeth Hospice. For information on next year’s Midnight Walk visit the Midnight Walk website.
