A flipping fantastic Pancake Day Race!

Shoppers and visitors alike were entertained in Lowestoft’s town centre today (21 February) as businesses competed to be crowned this year’s Pancake Day race winner.

The annual Pancake Day race hosted by Lowestoft Vision, the business improvement district for the town, saw over 35 people representing 15 local businesses competing in several heats, flipping pancakes along the way.

NR Health and Fitness and Lowestoft Town Council were the successful finalists, with NR Health and Fitness becoming 2023’s worthy pancake day race winners.

Alongside this was the popular mascots race, with 7 mascots dressed in their best fancy dress and ready to flip their way to glory. It was a closely run race, with Empower Mouse from Access Community Trust taking this year’s mascot race crown.

At the event, compere and Lowestoft Vision’s Chair Danny Steel said: “It was wonderful to have so many local organisations take part in this year’s annual Pancake Day race, and being cheered on by visitors, locals, businesses and families alike.

“The Pancake Day race is a popular date in our events calendar, and I would like to thank all our competitors who took part in today’s race. My congratulations also goes to Empower Mouse and NR Health and Fitness, the worthy winners.

“This event really does bring a lot of cheer into the town, and we were very pleased to once again be hosting the races.”
