MP Will Quince to speak at free Colchester business event

BUSINESS owners will have the chance to talk to Colchester’s MP at a free event about issues facing the town and the wider Essex area.

The event, hosted by Institute of Directors (IoD) Essex chair Alison Shadrack, will be an open debate with Colchester MP Will Quince.

Mr Quince, who practised as a solicitor before being elected in 2015, said: “We are at such an important moment for businesses with our recovery from the pandemic and launch of our Global Britain agenda, and I am delighted to attend this event for the Institute of Directors for the East of England as a guest speaker.”

Mr Quince has been a local charity trustee, school governor, and was previously Colchester Borough councillor for Prettygate.

Since being elected, he has secured an additional £2million for the upkeep of war graves, £70million for women’s health charities and set up a cross-party group working with the Government to half the stillbirth and neo-natal death rate.

He has sat on the Home Affairs Select Committee, the Transport Select Committee and the Commons Reference Group on Representation and Inclusion.

From April 2019 to September 2021, Mr Quince was parliamentary under-secretary of state for work and pensions and is now minister for children and families.

The event, sponsored by Colbea (Colchester Business Enterprise Agency), will be at the North Colchester Business Centre, in The Crescent, on October 15 from 2.30pm to 4pm.

Business in Our Community is free of charge and open to IoD members and non-members.

To book call the IoD on 01223 739714 or email [email protected].
