Hemisphere Freight Services Shortlisted for Two Awards

Hemisphere Freight Services (HFS), the Ipswich-based freight forwarding company, has been shortlisted for two awards at the BIFA Freight Service Awards 2019, which recognises and celebrates excellence in the UK freight and logistics industry.

Apprentice Jack Reddington will compete for the Apprentice of the Year award, while the HFS projects team have been named a finalist for the Extra Mile award. The ceremony is due to take place in London on Thursday, 16th January, 2020.

Jack joined HFS in September 2018 as an ocean freight apprentice. After thriving in the exports department, Jack was called upon to provide emergency cover for HFS’ busy recyclables team. The next stage of Jack’s apprenticeship will see him joining the import operations team as he looks to attain his customs qualification.

Jack’s achievements also include being appointed vice chair for the East Anglia Young Forwarder Network (YFN) group. In this role, Jack works closely with the British International Freight Association (BIFA) to organise events for other young freight forwarders in the region.

On top of Jack’s professional success, he is also making valuable contributions to the local community on behalf of HFS. His charity work ranges from organising quiz and curry nights to putting on his dancing shoes to participate in the annual Strictly Come Dancing fundraiser for Inspire Suffolk, HFS’ chosen charity.

We thought having an apprentice would be quite time-consuming, but Jack contributes massively to our team and has made us very passionate about bringing more apprentices into our company and the industry.”

More Recognition for the HFS Projects Team

HFS is hoping it will be third time lucky for its projects team after they narrowly missed out on a win at the BIFA awards in both 2017 and 2018. It would also add to HFS’ ever-growing collection of awards, with the company winning Best European Project Partner for the second year running at the WCA Projects Annual Conference.

Tackling challenges is second nature for HFS, as demonstrated by its projects team’s last-minute assistance transporting the Strongbow Yard to three music festivals across the UK this summer. Its client faced some disappointing news two weeks before the festival began, with their usual haulier unable to complete the project. However, there was no hesitation from the team at HFS, as they quickly stepped up to the mark to ensure the successful delivery of the iconic archer to the festivals.
