Tom’s Trust appeals to East Anglian businesses to take up last tables at charity Race Day

A charity is appealing to businesses in East Anglia to take up the last five tables at their charity’s Race Day to raise £40,000 for a psychologist to support children with brain tumours.

Tom’s Trust, which funds psychological care for children with brain tumours as well as their families, will be hosting its first ever Race Day at the July Course in Newmarket on Saturday 18 June, in the elegant Moorestyle Pavilion.

Guests will be served a drinks reception and a gourmet lunch followed by afternoon tea with horse racing and an auction in between.

The charity has filled 19 of 24 tables and is selling its last few tables for ten from as little as £150 per person. The charity is also looking for businesses who would like to take up sponsorship packages.

Debs Mitchell, Co-Founder of Tom’s Trust, said: “We are so excited to be hosting our first ever Newmarket Race Day and we’re blown away by the generosity of so many organisations who have donated auction prizes, bought tables, become sponsors and given their time and effort to make this happen. It will be a wonderful day and will mean so much to the children we help. We are so close to selling our last couple of tables, so please get in touch if you’d like to join us on this wonderful day.”

Local auctioneers, Cheffins, has kindly gifted its services for the day and will be overseeing the event’s live auction which includes eight fabulous prizes, such as an overnight break at The Dorchester’s Coworth Park; a Godolphin Darley Stallion Tour with a Godolphin Racing Box experience; a Champagne breakfast and racing with racehorse trainer Sean Woods; and a two-night stay at The Swan Hotel with Weaver’s spa treatments.

There is also an online auction which is now open to the public and includes prizes such as a signed and framed Cambridge United t-shirt, a year’s membership to the Fizwilliam Museum, a VIP restaurant experience at Newmarket Racecourse and a riding lesson with an Olympic event rider.

Martin Millard, Director at Cheffins, will be running the auction. He said: “We are thrilled to be supporting Tom’s Trust at the first charity Race Day. Tom’s Trust carries out essential work throughout the region, and we would urge any other businesses in East Anglia to take the opportunity to support this important charity. There are some great prizes on offer, which we hope ought to help raise the funds needed by the Trust to help fund its continuing work with children and their families throughout the East of England.”

Jonathan Coulson, Managing Director of Thoroughbred Racing Commentary (TRC), which along with Gallop is sponsoring the Race Day, said: “TRC and Gallop are very pleased to be supporting Tom’s Trust on this special day at Newmarket’s historic July Course. Whether you are a regular or new to the sport, we hope that everyone attending the event will have a fabulous day at the races, enjoying what is a truly international sport that we so passionately love writing about across our various platforms in print, digital and social media. We are so proud of everything the team at Tom’s Trust has achieved and look forward to continuing our support as much as we can in the future.”
