A prominent Suffolk-based freight company, recognised for sponsoring Ipswich Town FC, is presently taking steps to appoint administrators to salvage the business. Involved in road freight, air freight, warehousing, and marine insurance, the company, as indicated on its website, employs a workforce of 147 individuals.
Magnus Group has formally submitted a Notice of Intention to appoint an administrator to the High Court in London, dated Friday, November 10.
Established in 1973, the business, with a substantial base in Great Blakenham near Ipswich, has gained recognition as a major player in freight services within East Anglia and across the UK.
Strategically located to serve the Port of Felixstowe, the company benefits from direct road links to the Midlands, the North, and London via the A14 and A12.
Under Mr. Magnus’s leadership, the company underwent various transformations, including sponsoring Portman Road’s West Stand, now named the Magnus Group West Stand. In 2022, Olly Magnus was honoured with the Director of the Year award at the 2022 Suffolk Business Awards.
The Notice of Intention to appoint an administrator can be viewed on the HM Courts & Tribunals Public Search & Office Copies website under the Insolvency and Companies List.
