MHFAE Mental Health awareness training now available remotely

Regional, not-for-profit training organisation Training For Life has announced that official communication has now been received from Mental Health First Aid England (MHFAE), to confirm that the MHFAE accredited half day ‘Aware’ mental health training course can now be delivered by its official instructors online.

The 4 hour course was, until the outbreak of COVID19, only available as face-to-face training, but due to overwhelming demand and the restrictions placed on group gatherings, MHFAE accredited instructors can now plan online courses for delegates.

“There are a number of factors to consider with converting the face-to-face training to remote sessions” explained Training For Life’s Director Richard Stewart.  “The announcement was certainly anticipated and now that it’s confirmed, it’s time for us to plan these sessions and offer mental health support to whoever needs it in the current climate”.

The ‘Aware’ course is an introductory four-hour session to raise awareness of mental health.  It is designed to give delegates:

  • An understanding of what mental health is and how to challenge stigma
  • Basic knowledge of some common mental health issues
  • An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing
  • Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue

In addition to this announcement, MHFAE has also produced guidance surrounding working from home and maintaining good mental health, which can be found here.
