The Bell Hotel Saxmundham announces expansion plans following strong demand
25/09/2025 -
The Bell Hotel in Saxmundham has shared plans to expand its boutique hotel, growing from ten to fourteen rooms. The decision comes in response to consistently high occupancy levels and growing demand from guests seeking a stylish base in the heart of Suffolk.
Purchased by Beales Hotels in April 2022, The Bell has undergone a thoughtful and extensive refurbishment, reopening in December 2022 with a fresh new look that remains sympathetic to the building’s Grade II listed heritage. The refurbishment has been really well received, with guests and locals praising the way the hotel combines modern comfort with the building’s original Suffolk character.
Now, the ninth-generation, family-run hotel group is preparing to add four new rooms to the property, continuing its commitment to quality, local expertise, and regional identity. The team at The Bell will once again work closely with Suffolk-based suppliers, builders and designers to ensure the new rooms reflect the same personality and warmth as the existing spaces.
Andrew Beale, Chairman and Managing Director of Beales Hotels, said: “The Bell has quickly become a much-loved part of our portfolio. We’re proud of the way it reflects our family values and our dedication to creating beautiful, welcoming spaces. Expanding the hotel is a natural next step, and we’re delighted to continue investing in Saxmundham and the wider Suffolk region.”
Ashley Beale, General Manager of The Bell Hotel, added: “Since reopening, the response from guests has been fantastic. We’re often fully booked, and it’s clear there’s a real appetite for what The Bell offers, great food, luxury rooms, and a proper Suffolk welcome. Adding four more rooms means we can welcome even more guests while staying true to the look and feel that makes the hotel so special.”
The new rooms are expected to be completed in December with bookings available for the Christmas and New Year period.
