Clarkes of Walsham choose Corbel for IT security and support

Building, farming and garden material suppliers, Clarkes of Walsham, have chosen cloud-IT specialists Corbel to support and protect their IT for the next chapter of their 110-year history.

Established in Walsham-le-willows near Bury St Edmunds in 1908, the family-run business is now better protected and getting more from their IT, thanks to a new relationship with the Ipswich-based IT experts.

Clarkes of Walsham supply building, agricultural, fencing and other materials to local builders, farmers and DIYers. Their country goods department has especially grown in size and reputation, stocking an impressive range of country clothing and shooting accessories. Since 2015, they have also provided country apparel at their popular store on Jimmy’s Farm in Wherstead.

Richard Balls, Finance Director of Clarkes of Walsham, explains: “Investment in IT is often overlooked but we rely on it so much as a modern business. Since choosing Corbel we’re feeling much better protected knowing our systems are secure and friendly support is just a phone call away.”

Operating over two sites, Clarkes of Walsham were previously housing and maintaining their own computer servers and infrastructure. With Corbel’s cloud-hosted IT, their software, data and systems are instead stored and protected off-site, allowing Clarkes’ staff to simply log in as needed. This has increased flexibility, reduced the need to update costly hardware and improved the business’s resistance to possible threats.

“We’re delighted to be helping such a highly regarded local business” says Karen Rogers, Sales Director of Corbel Solutions. “Like many companies, the advantages of cloud-hosting were very strong for Clarkes. They no longer need to worry about managing their own computer systems and always have us on hand to make sure they get exactly what they need from their IT.”

Ipswich-based IT specialists Corbel provide cloud-hosted IT, data back-up and full computer support to businesses large and small throughout East Anglia. In 2017, they opened their third workplace recovery suite, providing companies with instant access to alternative workspace should their premises be compromised by risks like theft, flooding or power loss.
