Changes to bin collections over the festive period in Ipswich

Ipswich Borough Council is advising residents to check the details of services over Christmas and New Year, with many services continuing to operate.
HEARS
The Ipswich HEARS service (monitoring & responding alarm service) are on duty 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, so there is no change to the service provision over the festive period.

Bin collections
Bin collection dates will be changing over the Christmas and New Year period.
During Christmas week, black bins normally collected on Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 December will be collected a day earlier. Black bin collections on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 December will be collected a day later.
The following week, blue bin collections on Tuesday 31 December remain as normal, with collections on Wednesday 1 January, Thursday 2 January and Friday 3 January collected a day later.
During the festive period there will be no brown bin collections between Monday 23 December 2024 and Monday 6 January 2025. Collections will resume from Tuesday 7 January, with residents encouraged to leave their real Christmas trees (minus decorations) by their brown bins for free collection on their scheduled brown bin collection day.

The Town Hall will be closed on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 December and Wednesday 1 January 2025.
Crown Car Park has extended opening hours on Thursday 19 December (8am – 9:30pm). The car park will close at 6pm on Christmas Eve and will be closed on Christmas Day.
On Boxing Day, it will be open from 8.30am to 6pm and will open from 8am to 11.30pm on Friday 27 December. The car park will be closed on Wednesday 1 January 2025.
Parks in Ipswich are open every day of the year – unless an icy snap makes the footpaths dangerous. The Reg Driver Centre in Christchurch Park will be closed on 25 and 26 December and 1 January.

Sport and Fitness
Crown Pools will have reduced opening hours on Tuesday 24 December (8am – 4pm) and will be closed on 25, 26 and 31 December, and on 1 January 2025.
Fore Street Pool will be closed from 24 December to 1 January 2025.
Gainsborough and Whitton Sports Centres have reduced opening hours on 24 December (8am – 4pm) and will be closed on 25, 26 and 31 December, and on 1 January 2025.

Ipswich Museum remains closed during refurbishment works.
Christchurch Mansion will be closed from 24 to 27 December, and on 1 January 2025.
Ipswich Cemeteries remain open to visitors, but the Cemetery Office will be closed on 25 and 26 December, as well as Wednesday 1 January 2025.
Ipswich Market will be open daily from Thursday 19 to Tuesday 24 December (9am – 4pm).
It will be closed on 25 and 26 December and Wednesday 1 January 2025.
