Changes to bin collections over the festive period in Ipswich

Ipswich Borough Council is advising residents to check online for planned changes to bin collections over the festive period.

Ipswich residents are being advised to check changes for the weeks commencing Monday 23 December and the following week commencing Monday 30 December.

During Christmas week, black bins normally collected on Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 December will be collected a day earlier. Black bin collections on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 December will be collected a day later.

The following week, blue bin collections on Tuesday 31 December remain as normal, with collections on Wednesday 1 January, Thursday 2 January and Friday 3 January collected a day later.

During the festive period there will be no brown bin collections between Monday 23 December 2024 and Monday 6 January 2025. Collections will resume from Tuesday 7 January, with residents encouraged to leave their real Christmas trees (minus decorations) by their brown bins for free collection.

Councillor Phil Smart, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Transport at Ipswich Borough Council says:

“We would like to encourage residents to check change to their bin collections early to avoid any confusion over the festive period.

“Depending on people’s normal collection day, some collections will be brought forward and others pushed back, with brown bin collections paused until the 7 January 2025.”
