Ellisons Solicitors announces Partner retirement and new Head of Family

Ellisons Solicitors announces the retirement of Equity Partner, Nicky Coates.

Nicky will be retiring at the end of this year after an incredible 31-year service at the firm. Nicky joined Ellisons in 1989 in the family department and became a Partner in 1996. During her time at the firm, Nicky has led the family department for 10 years, was the resident Tendring partner leading the Frinton office, and has been a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel.

Speaking on her retirement Nicky Coates said: “My career has filled a large part of my day to day life, and I have absolutely loved my time at Ellisons – you don’t spend 31-years somewhere if you don’t! It is the people I work for and with that have filled these years with memories, purpose and laughter. I have enjoyed not only working with the excellent team but also helping our clients to find the best possible solution at difficult times. I wish the team and Lisa all the best for the future.”

Partner, Lisa Dawson will be stepping up to lead the team as the new Head of Family. Lisa has been at the firm for 18 years and has worked in the family department for 17 years. Lisa specialises in all aspects of family law, marriage and civil partnerships, co-habitation, children issues, financial issues as well as prenups and postnups.

Speaking on her appointment Lisa Dawson said: “I am incredibly excited to take on the role of Head of Family at Ellisons. The Family department is made up of a brilliant team of solicitors who work tirelessly and flexibly to ensure they meet the needs of our clients. I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Nicky, and wish her all the best in her retirement”
