Spider, The Regions Fixed Fee Web Recruiters are supporting one of the leading business membership organisations in Suffolk with their search for an Events Manager to develop their thriving programme of business networking events and conferences. This exciting new role will suit a dynamic and forward-thinking event organiser with a strong work ethic and a ‘can do’ attitude. As manager of a proactive team, candidates will need to have at least two years’ management or team leader experience and at least two years’ experience in event management.

Working closely with the events team, the Events Manager will implement and develop a successful and profitable annual b2b events programme with the aim of supporting local business growth through the wider membership retention programme. Experience of managing a small team, with an understanding of motivating and developing staff as well as delivering formal staff appraisals is essential.

The team at Spider are looking to talk to candidates who have demonstrable experience of building, maintaining and utilising successful relationships with a wide range of business people and internal contacts to ensure events are well promoted and attended. The role will include booking local and national business leader speakers so experience in this is a must, as well as the ability to work with partners, stakeholders and others and use expertise to shape a successful outcome, managing expectations and keeping everyone informed.

As well as managing the team the role has responsibility for the event management of leading events, ranging from intimate business leader dinners to some of the most popular networking events taking place across Suffolk. The role includes visiting venues and event planning to delivery on the day and post-event follow up so a good understanding of the conference and events industry is a must, as well as experience in budget management.

With experience in promoting and marketing events via email, online and through social media, you will have outstanding communication and organisation skills as well as providing creative and innovative ideas for events that support and attract local businesses.

With a collaborative and proactive approach, applicants need the ability to ‘think on your feet’ and problem solve under pressure as well as taking action and resolving issues as they arise, finding positive outcomes for customers and the business.

In this role there are regularly competing priorities, and so the ability to multi-task and manage own time efficiently is a must. With excellent networking and negotiating skills and a positive and flexible approach to working, including some out of hours work, candidates will also have a good understanding of health and safety requirements relating to event management. Due to the nature of this role some travel is required and so a full driving licence and access to transport is necessary.
