Woodbridge Rugby Club holds successful half term rugby camps

Woodbridge Rugby Club U12s and U9s rugby squads were involved in a fund-raising Rugby Camp during half term to raise money for the Club’s ‘Buy The Church Fund’.

The Covid-safe activities included plenty of touch rugby, handling skills, obstacle courses, rugby netball, a quiz, creating team T-shirts and junk-modelling some rugby goal posts. The result was lots of tired children and coaches!

Organiser Claire Cole said “at a time when activities are being restricted it was great to keep our Junior section players fit and occupied. The Club’s appeal to young players has seen a tremendous increase in its Junior Section over recent years. Despite considerable investment, the Club still needs more playing area and so the opportunity to purchase additional land is a cause worth raising money for. Although I think the players were more interested in the activities!”

Junior Chairman, Steven Wilding, who organised and coached the U12s single handedly, added “I’d like to thank Claire, Sam Sutton Reid, Rob Kingston and Liam Van Tuinen for giving up their time to run the Camps. The U12s raised £700 and the U9s raised £1000 from the children and parents – both significant contributions to the Club’s Fund”.
