Ben Fogle wows capacity crowd at Chamber event

Suffolk Chamber of Commerce’s latest Prestige Dinner proved to be a great success as over 200 guests were entertained to TV broadcaster and author Ben Fogle’s recollections of his many adventures and travels to far-flung parts of the world.

Hosted last week at Trinity Park, Ipswich, the black tie event’s silver sponsor was MAD-HR, with the bronze sponsors being Ashtons Legal, KWL Logistics, M&H Plastics and Thomas Ridley. The goody bag items were supplied by Ashtons Legal, Challs International, M&H Plastics and Thomas Ridley.

Ben Fogle spoke to his very appreciative audience for well over half an hour, detailing how his love of travelling began as a child.

He recounted crossing the Atlantic in a rowing boat with James Cracknell, running out of oxygen bottles near to the summit of Mount Everest and a whole series of other near-disasters neatly avoided thanks to good planning – or good luck.

According to John Dugmore, Suffolk Chamber’s chief executive: “It was a great night. Ben is a fantastic speaker and his stories, and how he told them, totally engrossed the large audience before him.

Ben’s experiences are obviously unique. Yet, I think his stories of aiming high, planning carefully and coping with setbacks resonated with our audience, most of whom have probably experienced such highs and lows in business.”

Amanda Ankin, operations director at Suffolk Chamber, added: “Our Prestige Dinners, launched at the beginning of 2018, have proven to be the social highlight of the Suffolk business calendar. They offer a wonderful opportunity for our members to entertain their customers in first class locations and to hear at first-hand from inspiring and well-known speakers.”

“We are planning for the next Prestige Dinner in 2020 and I’m sure that will be another must-attend event for Suffolk’s business leaders.”
