Pier re-launches with new London office, sustainability pledge and new brand identity

Award-winning integrated communications agency Pier has re-launched with a raft of changes to its business.

For the first time, the Suffolk-based PR agency has taken premises in London. Pier specialises in providing integrated communications services to two industries; renewable energy and food & beverage, which attracts clients from across the UK and beyond. The new office premises in Farringdon brings Pier closer to clients and employees based in or near the city.

To reaffirm its commitment to sustainable working practices and help drive the journey to net zero, Pier has made a second major announcement in that it will donate 1% of its profits to fighting climate change. The socially responsible business already has a number of measures in place to minimise its impact, and this latest pledge strengthens Pier’s ethos and vision for a better future.

The Pier brand has also undergone a significant revamp and re-launched with a brand-new website at www.pierweare.com. A new, brighter visual identity has been created which celebrates Pier’s coastal roots and links with the seaside.

To celebrate the re-launch, Pier commissioned its own exclusive flavour of ice cream. The ‘#Pierweare’ consists of cherry and biscuit ice cream swirled together, topped with blue ‘Nerds,’ representing the new brand both visually and in its recipe. The Pier team gathered in Felixstowe to be the first to try the company’s bespoke flavour, made exclusively for Pier by The Little Ice Cream Company.

Pier was founded in 2008 by Kate Bowden Smith and now employs a team of 11. Pier Managing Director Amy Bendall comments: “We wanted to create a flavour that tells our story. The classic base of cherry and biscuit represents Pier’s integrity – we prize honesty and respect. Our blue Nerds topping visually symbolises the impact our work has – unmissable and imaginative. And of course, with a tongue-in-cheek ‘nerdy’ nod to our deep foundation of knowledge for our craft and our specialist industries.”

“It is just a bit of fun, but it gives us a chance to mark the start of a significant new chapter in Pier’s history. For the first time we have a London office, giving us the opportunity to host client meetings at a more convenient location for them. Our commitment to giving back financially reinforces our ambition to run an ethical business, and make a meaningful difference in the fight against climate change. And, our new striking brand identity has brought to life the company and team I am so very proud of. It is a very exciting time.”

Pier has also taken the opportunity to boost its benefits package for staff as part of the re-launch, adding private health insurance, a salary sacrifice scheme for electric car leases and the Cycle to Work scheme, to existing employee benefits.

The re-brand comes as Pier celebrates this year reaching the final for three national PR awards, including most recently the global The Drum Awards for PR. The agency also scooped High Growth Business of the Year at the Federation of Small Businesses earlier this year.

Pier provides services including PR and media relations, campaigns, social media, influencer outreach and stakeholder relations. Food & beverage clients include Del Monte, Pilgrim’s Food Masters, Saputo Dairy UK and Surya Foods. Pier’s renewables roster includes RWE, Generate, Perceptual Robotics, BladeBug and SP Energy Networks.
