Wish Granted: Residents Delighted as Farm Arrives at Avocet Court

Earlier this year, the compassionate team at Avocet Court Care Home in Ipswich embarked on a mission to fulfill the heartfelt wishes of their residents. When asked what one thing they would love to do, Keith Pitt and Russell Race, two cherished residents with fond memories of working on farms in their younger years, expressed their desire to experience a tractor ride once again.

Determined to make this dream a reality, the dedicated staff at Avocet Court worked tirelessly throughout the summer, overcoming the challenges of the late summer and early autumn harvest season to source a tractor for the special day.

The tractor ride was just the beginning of the residents’ extraordinary day, as they were also treated to the delightful company of ponies, goats, chickens, guinea pigs, and an array of other farmyard friends.

Russell Race shared his joy, saying, “It was fantastic! It brought back so many good memories for me.”

Ruth Garnham, Home Manager at Avocet Court, expressed her sentiments, stating, “Today is what Avocet Court is all about. We’ve heard our residents’ requests and delivered a unique day full of magical moments for our residents, their loved ones and our team. The smiles on Keith and Russell’s faces are priceless.”

The residents and staff at Avocet Court wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Geoff from Geoffrey Mayhew Farms Ltd for generously providing his tractor for this remarkable day.
