Suffolk businesses support growth of Sax Music Fest

Sax Music Fest, the annual free music festival in Saxmundham, will be in its fifth year in 2018, and is in the midst of an exciting period of growth. Earlier this year Terry Barrow and the team behind the festival secured a Suffolk Coastal District Council Exemplar Fund grant. As a result, they are working with The Bridge, a strategic marketing consultancy, to create and implement a plan to become financially self-sustaining whilst increasing the arts and music opportunities for the community in Saxmundham and the surrounding areas.

This process is well under way with a compelling five-year plan completed and Woodbridge-based digital marketing agency, Infotex, confirmed as lead sponsor for 2018. Now Terry and his team are hoping to attract more people with time and skills to drive the plan forward and help to make Music and Arts readily accessible to all in and around Saxmundham.

Morag McInnes from Infotex, the lead sponsor for the 2018 festival, added: “Infotex is always keen to contribute to events that benefit the local community, especially an event such as this which promotes music, community, wellbeing and engagement. We are delighted to have the opportunity to create the branding and a fully responsive new website for Sax Music Fest. We can’t wait to be as involved as possible as the lead sponsor.”

Indeed, the festival is seeking more people with skills in various areas of business and the arts to join the team of its newly formed community interest company.

Terry Barrow, organiser of Sax Music Fest, said: “It’s a very exciting time for us and we’re keen to welcome more people to the team. We’re looking for people who have the time, skills and enthusiasm to help us to roll out our business plan and bring music and arts to more people in the area. We’ve run the event for coming up to five years and we’re looking for people who will be with us for the next five years, helping us build the CIC through planning, marketing, finance and community outreach.”

Cllr TJ Haworth-Culf, cabinet member for Customers, Communities and Leisure at Suffolk Coastal District Council, said: “The festival has grown from strength to strength, so we’re really pleased to see the board welcoming new members. Sax Music Fest has been a real community success and it’s fantastic to see them now recognised as a Community Interest Company and we wish them the best of luck for the future.”
