Last chance to sign up for charity cycle – Ride for Helen Suffolk at Trinity Park, Ipswich!

Could your pedal power help drive vital cancer support services across the region?

Ride for Helen Suffolk is back for 2022 on Sunday 26th June in aid of Helen Rollason Cancer Charity! And places are filling up fast.

The annual charity cycle ride offers cyclists the chance to sign up for either 65 or 35 mile routes through some of the beautiful Suffolk countryside. The Ride will start and finish at Trinity Park, Ipswich, home of the Suffolk Show.

There is a choice of two routes:

65 mile route; for the experienced cyclist keen to enjoy some of the beautiful rural Suffolk countryside including Grundisburgh, Clopton Green, Monewden, Kettleburgh, Brandeston, Earl Soham, Saxtead Green, Framlingham, Wickham Market, Tunstall Forest, Chillesford, Melton and Woodbridge.

35 mile route; for the regular cyclist looking for a challenge, cycling on roads passing through Grundisburgh, Clopton Green, Monewden, Sutton Hoo, Easton, Wickham Market, Ufford, Melton and Woodbridge.

Cyclist Jef Ott and his wife Jane took part in last year’s event; “Having participated in all of the Essex Ride for Helen events since 2015, when the opportunity arose in 2021 to ride in Suffolk and support the charity, I jumped at the chance! I entered the 35 mile route and rode it with my wife on our semi-recumbent Tandem. We loved the stunning scenery and would recommend any rider that can cycle for a couple of hours, to give it a go. In fact, we are doing the same route again! This year though, my wife and I are doing it with our ‘30-something’ daughter, who will be on her own bike – it’s a real family affair!

The organisation of the Essex and Suffolk rides has always been first rate and I will continue to support the Ride for Helen events for as long as I physically can, hopefully for another couple of decades at least!

I am always impressed by the values maintained by all of the staff and volunteers that I meet at Helen Rollason Cancer Charity – they provide an essential service across our region to support those living with cancer.”

Helen Rollason Cancer Charity are also delighted to have John Grose car dealership onboard as headline sponsor for Ride for Helen Suffolk 2022.

Ian Twinley, Chairman of John Grose said “Helen Rollason are a wonderful charity that provides therapy and counselling support to those that are affected by cancer. Like many charities they have had a tough couple of years in terms of significantly reduced income so we are very keen to help them with their fundraising efforts.”

Helen Rollason Cancer Charity Community Fundraiser Karen Mitchell said; “We are so excited to be back at Trinity Park Ipswich for Ride for Helen 2022! Register to take part now; closing date for pre-booking online is Wednesday 22nd June at midday but you can still sign up on the day!

Helen Rollason Cancer Charity work in conjunction with the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation and every penny raised at this event will go towards ensuring we continue to provide the best possible cancer care now and in the future.”
