‘Do Good’ Networking gets Christmas all wrapped up at Ipswich Hospital

The ethical business networking event, Do Good Networking, has rounded off a successful first year in operation by wrapping over 400 Christmas presents for patients at Ipswich Hospital.

Do Good Networking was launched in January 2019 SimpleClick, a specialist website and app development agency,  is an innovative concept which brings business networking and corporate social responsibility together. Monthly networking events take place at a local charity and gives attendees the opportunity to make new business contacts whilst donating their time to a worthy cause.

In total this year, over 140 people have attended Do Good Networking events, donating over £1,400 and 429 hours to local charities including Age UK Suffolk, ActivLives and Emmaus Suffolk.

This morning’s event was the biggest so far in 2019, with 38 ‘wrappers’ from large and small organisations taking part. It was a huge success and everyone got into the festive spirit whilst wrapping piles of gifts.  At the same time, they could network informally and build relationships with other businesses.

IKON Training hosted the event at their offices at Three Rivers Business Centre,  staff from several companies in and around Ipswich came to help spread some festive cheer to those in need.

Richard Jennis, Managing Director of SimpleClick, commented: “A morning of present wrapping was a brilliant way to round off a fantastic first year for Do Good Networking; I’m so proud of the team and everyone involved. We understand it can be difficult to find time to do good during the working week but we know how powerful giving back can be for mental health, which is why we combined charitable work with effective business networking. This concept has proven to be very popular, and we’re very pleased to announce that next year will be bigger and better.”

As well as donating time and resource to the charity, ‘Do Gooders’ also contributed a small donation raising over £200.  This was an added bonus for the charity team, as was the opportunity to make contact with new businesses and tell them about the projects at Ipswich Hospital.

Corporate Fundraising Manager, Penny Norris, said, “Every year it’s a mammoth task to get Christmas gifts ready for those patients who are staying with us over the festive season, so we were delighted to be contacted by Do Good Networking. The whole event was really positive for all of us – the people who joined in helped us so much. There was definitely a feel-good factor and our patients will be very grateful to receive a thoughtfully-wrapped present this Christmas.”
