Seckford Care wins the ‘Palliative Care / End of Life Award’ in the South East in ‘The Great British Care Awards 2023’

Seckford Care in Woodbridge is ending 2023 on a high note, with another significant awards win – the ‘Palliative Care / End of Life Award’ in the South East Region’s ‘The Great British Care Awards 2023’, held at the Hilton Metropole, Brighton on Friday 17th November 2023 – its fourth major accolade of the year!

This prestigious recognition means that Seckford Care now goes through to the National Awards automatically, to be held in Birmingham in March 2024.

‘The Great British Care Awards’ are a celebration of excellence across the care sector, and pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their respective fields.

These regional Awards comprise 21 categories, covering all areas of social care, from older people and specialist services, to residential and home care. They acknowledge the achievements of all those who work tirelessly across the sector, including frontline staff, such as care workers and care managers, as well as people who have made an impact in other ways, such as training and innovation.

Notably, the Awards are fully-inclusive, bringing together the statutory, independent and voluntary sectors, as well as unpaid carers, promoting joint working. Working in partnership with care partners and local care associations is at the heart of the initiative.

The coveted ‘Palliative Care/End of Life Award’ acknowledges the team that “demonstrates how special and professional they have to be to be able to support someone who is at the end of their life. They should be able to explain the training they have had to take on in this role, and recognise how important dignity and respect is at this time. They should also explain how they can support the family and friends during this difficult time.”

Gemma Bloomfield, Director of Care at Seckford Care, said: “I am delighted that Seckford Care has been awarded the South East Region’s ‘Palliative Care/End of Life Team Award’ at ‘The Great British Care Awards’. It is so important that we enable people to have dignity, be comfortable and at peace.

“As a team, we care passionately about providing the highest level of support for the individual and their loved ones, so this award is very special to us.”

This year has seen Seckford Care receiving recognition in several important awards categories throughout the UK: In September, the charity celebrated being named ‘Team of the Year (Large Provider)’ at the ‘Suffolk Care Awards 2023’

In June, it walked away with two wins and a ‘Highly Commended’ at the inaugural ‘Housing with Care Awards 2023’, with Cassie Parratt being named the outstanding ‘Housing Manager (Independent)’ and Bill Hopley as ‘Best Activities Coordinator’, as well as a ‘Highly Commended’ for Mike Wilson in the ‘Care Handyperson’ category.
