Suffolk Chamber: International Trade Group gains momentum

Suffolk Chamber of Commerce has continued its investment in its policy and lobbying efforts as the result of a very successful recent gathering of its international trade group.

In its new format, over 50 members of the Suffolk Chamber International Trade Group (SCITG) met recently at Hintlesham Hall to share exporting and importing ideas and opportunities and to listen to guest speaker Alan Pain, head of trade and investment – east of England at the Department of International Trade

The SCITG aims to share best practice, maximise local involvement in national international trade initiatives and to prepare Suffolk companies for opportunities as free trade agreements are agreed with third-party countries.

The new International Trade Group joins Suffolk Chamber’s growing range of  policy forums: Net Zero, People & Skills and Transport & Infrastructure, with additional ones covering the Economy and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion due to be launched over the coming months.

John Dugmore said: “Suffolk Chamber already provides an excellent portfolio of international trade services to the business community, including trade documentation, advice and guidance through our two international trade managers  funded by the Suffolk Public Sector Leaders’ group, links to businesses overseas who wish to do two-way trade with the UK and training. This group – open to interested members – adds another dimension in providing a platform for knowledge transfer in a relaxed atmosphere.

“The feedback we’ve received from participants suggests that they are as excited as we are by the relaunch of the SCITG.”
