Varna International Ballet coming to Ipswich next year

It’s World Ballet Day today (1 November) and ballet lovers won’t want to miss the critically acclaimed Varna International Ballet performing The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, and Swan Lake at Ipswich Regent Theatre in February 2024.

The company will perform three spectacular ballets over three consecutive nights from Thursday 1 to Saturday 3 February 2024, accompanied by a live orchestra.

The Nutcracker is the most famous of fantasy ballets, enjoyed by all ages. As midnight strikes on Christmas Eve, the audience is swept away to a fairy-tale world where nothing is quite as it seems.

Sleeping Beauty is a classic story of love and innocence, mystery, and magic set to Tchaikovsky’s sublime score with stunning choreography and costumes.

Known as the greatest romantic ballet of all time, Swan Lake is another of Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable scores. From the impressive splendour of the palace ballroom to the moonlit lake where swans glide in perfect formation, this is a compelling and moving tale of tragic romance.

Councillor Sophie Connelly, Ipswich Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Culture and Customers, says:

“It’s wonderful that Ipswich Regent Theatre can attract such a diverse range of talent to perform in Ipswich. Ballet is such an awe-inspiring form of dance and performances of the classics Swan Lake, the Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty with a live orchestra will be super to see on stage in Ipswich next year.”
