Stages revealed for Ipswich Music Day 2024

Ipswich Entertains has announced the six stages for this year’s Ipswich Music Day which returns to Christchurch Park on Sunday 7 July.

In its 34^th year, Ipswich Music Day organised by Ipswich Borough Council, is the UK’s biggest free one-day music festival showcasing up and coming musicians, bands, and singers as well as offering fairground rides, activities, a market, and food vendors.

The Bowl Stage sponsored by BBC Radio Suffolk near to the Henley Road entrance will, among other great artists, feature BBC Introducing Artists chosen by presenter Wayne Bavin. This area of the park will include food vendors, a bar and a marketplace curated by Prestige County Events.

New for 2024, the Indian Summer Mela Stage near to the Fonnereau Road entrance of the park will be hosted by the Ipswich & Suffolk Indian Association (ISIA) who will be bringing a celebration of Indian culture to the festival. Throughout the festival there will be a mixture of performances from singers and dancers within the Indian community.

The Crossroad Stage close to the Westerfield entrance of the park is sponsored and hosted by Suffolk Sound, with performances live streamed across the airwaves for all Suffolk Sound listeners to enjoy. Next to the playground, lovers of pop and indie music can head to the new Rise Stage which is sponsored by Suffolk New College.

Pond Stage in the heart of the park will present indie, rap, R&B and DJs as well as hosting the winner of Suffolk One’s Battle of the Bands competition. Grapevine Stage next to the marketplace will feature acoustic and jazz artists and soul singing groups.

This year’s event isn’t just limited to the park, with choirs and community group performances organised by Ipswich Arts Association taking place in Bethesda Church, Christchurch Mansion, Masonic Hall, and St Margaret’s Church.

Ipswich Entertains received over 300 applications from musicians, bands, and singers looking to perform at the free event, with the full line-up set to be announced at 10am on Tuesday 28 May.

 This year will be the 34^th instance of the iconic event, with the event growing year-on-year and continuing to be a truly fantastic, free-to-attend festival that welcomes 25,000 people for one special day, this year on 7 July.

Every year we want to make the family-friendly programme even better, so by expanding the festival we aim to offer something for everyone, no matter their music taste, age, or culture.”
