Over 200 guests were welcomed back to Suffolk Chamber of Commerce’s biggest annual networking event on the rooftop of the iconic WTW building in Ipswich on 14 July, with this year’s theme celebrating the best of British.
Fine weather meant guests from businesses all across Suffolk were able to enjoy far-reaching views across the town and the roof garden was also used to provide a range of games including archery and giant jenga, all organised by Abbeycroft Leisure.
Suffolk Chamber members were treated to an immersive experience through the ‘best of British’ with four themed areas for attendees to enjoy including food, drinks and activities: British seaside, Wimbledon, London and traditional British picnic.
At the sold-out event guests were welcomed with speeches from Catherine Johnson, partner at Birketts LLP and newly announced President of Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, along with host Richard Brame, senior director at WTW, and event sponsor Graham Mummery, partner at Larking Gowen. The event was formally opened by special guest the Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk, Clare, Countess of Euston as part of this year’s Festival of Suffolk celebrations.
Catherine Johnson said: “It was a pleasure to welcome so many members and guests to our annual rooftop party after two years away due to Covid19.
“With exciting themes, a fun and relaxing atmosphere and the perfect opportunity to connect with peers, it really has become a highlight of the business calendar in our region.”
Graham Mummery, partner at Larking Gowen who sponsored the event, said: “It was fantastic to see so many people face to face and to celebrate, not only the British summer and the festival of Suffolk, but the resilience of Suffolk Businesses in the face of testing economic times”.
Richard Brame added: “The Suffolk Chamber team and the team here at WTW worked really hard to make the event such a success; it was great to see so many people in attendance and our office rooftop being used so well.
“Everyone looked to have a great time whilst networking and catching up. We have received excellent feedback and are looking forward to the 2023 event already!”
