Q&A: On Monday 24th with the producer of I Love My Mum film

Alexa, a local film producer who attended High School at Copleston will be at the Riverside Theatre this Monday evening, for a screening of her new film!

Screening attendees will have the chance to speak to some of the cast and crew during a Q+A at the end of the screening so that the audience will get to meet everyone. They’ll also be talking about how they made an independent film with a budget of just over £2 million. It’s the perfect opportunity for budding film producers, or for inquisitive minds to have their questions answered!

Alexa has also been previously involved in the line production of a feature comedy directed by Alberto Sciamma (Killer Tongue, Blood Trap) Starring Kierston Wareing (Rise of the Foot soldiers, CardBoard Gangsters), Tommy French, Tim Downie (Paddington), Dominique Pinon (Amelie) and Frank Lebeouf.

However, this time round I Love My Mum centres on Ron and Olga, mother and son, who get inadvertently shipped away in a container from their comfy London town to the distant Morocco. With nothing but their pyjamas to their names the plot sees the duo put their mutual animosity behind them, as they find a way back without documents or money.

Alexa commented, ‘Working in collaboration with DDA we released the film at the Prince Charles in Leicester square followed by 2 months of scheduled cinemas across the country and Europe with sell out audiences. The screening at The Riverside Cinema in Woodbridge is almost bringing us to the close and back in my home town.  Friends and family are all coming to watch the film.’

Alexa commented: ‘Although working in London, I am from Ipswich and my parents live in Woodbridge. So it really is a dream to have the film shown in my local area! I went to Copleston High School and trained from a young age to be an actress. My first professional paid acting gig was at the Wolsey Theatre! I went on to working on stage and in front and behind the camera and moved into production by accident!

Now after a decade of experience in the film and TV industry, I have been lucky enough to travel all over the world working on innovative 4K action and adventure programmes, long running series such as the Dog Rescuers and Nazi Megastructures, branded content for FIFA ad Elton John’s The Cut as well as on music videos including Haim and Yxng Bane.

After learning the ropes on the film HI LO JOE and working on award winning short films including CATCH, my first big move into feature films was on PANDORICA with Director Tom Paton I have then continued to work with well established producers and directors as well as up and coming new talent. Besides film-making, I am also a voice-over artist for short films, adverts, documentaries, the BBC and Channel 4.’

The screening is being held on Monday 24th June at 7.30pm. Don’t forget to book you tickets here www.theriverside.co.uk
