Join EACH for a day of mud and giggles at the Whole Hog Races

Fancy getting involved in a fun-packed, mud-splattered day of laughs and adventure?

If so, next month’s Whole Hog Races could be right up your street – and by lending a hand you will be supporting East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The Whole Hog is an annual obstacle course and mud run taking place at Wantisden Hall, near Woodbridge, on 10th October.

Daredevils taking part can expect to crawl under cargo nets, through tunnels, climb steep banks and walls, wade through rivers, swing across monkey bars and much more.

It promises to be a memorable day and there is still time to sign up and book your place – as well as get involved as a volunteer.

EACH, this year’s charity partner, supports families and cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. It has three hospices, including one at The Treehouse, in Ipswich.

Participants can choose between the Whole Hog course (30+ obstacles and around five miles) or the Boss Hog (40+ obstacles and around seven miles).

Issy O’Riordan, EACH Community Fundraiser for Suffolk and East Essex, said: “We’re so looking forward to the Whole Hog races. It’s going to be a lot of fun.

“In the past it’s been very successful and well-run, in a family-orientated atmosphere.

“This year will be no different and there’s still time to sign up, if you’d like to take part.

“We’re also particularly keen to hear from anyone who might be able to give us some time to be a marshal on the day.

“Events of this nature can’t take place without the support of volunteers and we’d be so pleased and grateful to hear from anyone who can help.

“In the process, they’ll be helping EACH and will also be able to cheer on three members of staff taking part – Georgina Morrison and Laura Southcott, from our community fundraising team, and Laura Jenkins, who is care manager at The Treehouse in Ipswich.”

Marshals have the chance to run the course the day before and will also receive a souvenir T-shirt.

In terms of taking part, you can sign up as an individual or on behalf of a team of up to 20 people.

The event will start with a briefing at 8.30am and run until 4pm.
