Suffolk Chamber of Commerce has announced that Paul Briddon is taking over this month from Graham Abbey as president of the county’s leading business organisation.
Graham steps down after two successful years at the helm, during which time Paul acted as his vice president. Catherine Johnson, a partner at Birketts LLP becomes the new vice-president.
Paul is a senior partner at the Lowestoft office of Lovewell Blake Chartered Accountants and has held other senior positions within the Suffolk Chamber network, including as treasurer.
On being appointed as president, Paul said: “It is a huge honour for me to take on the role of president of Suffolk Chamber of Commerce. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing president, Graham Abbey, for all his achievements during his term of office. He will certainly be a hard act to follow.
“My years of involvement with the Chamber at both local and county level has provided me with an insight into the magnificent work that the organisation does for its members and the countless lobbying successes it has achieved for the wider business community.
“This has been and still is a challenging time for Suffolk businesses as we begin to emerge from the stringent COVID-19 lockdown measures. Our membership will be looking for support from the Chamber more than ever before. We are determined that we will continue to be there for them.”
John Dugmore, chief executive added: “as the voice of business in Suffolk, we have been incredibly fortunate over the years to have been able to call on the leadership of so many great business people. I’m especially grateful to Graham for his dedication and wisdom and I look forward to working in a similar vein with Paul and Catherine.”
